As many of you may already know, I have stepped down as Chair of the TRB Programming, Planning and Systems Evaluation Committee. This was a difficult decision for me as I have truly enjoyed my time with committee. The friendships that have been established and the work that’s been accomplished will always be a highlight for me.
The reason for this decision had to do a recent change in my career at WSDOT. Last fall, I moved into a leadership role in the WSDOT Maintenance Program as the Assistant State Maintenance Engineer. This role and my new responsibilities required me to step away from this aspect of TRB earlier than what I had wanted.
As far as TRB, I am still involved, but have now transitioned to the Maintenance and Operations committees (yes, I’ve officially crossed over to the dark side and am now a “Marriott Guy” for the Annual Meeting). While I will be spending more time at this other venue, I still plan to make it back from time to time and check in on what’s happening at the Hilton (especially since the remodel is finally complete).
I look forward to staying to touch. Take care and best wishes to you and to the future of ADA50!

Annoucements,
Call for Papers /
No Comments
As discussed at the Annual Meeting and as posted previously on this website, I would encourage committee members and friends to consider using the web site as a forum to generate ideas for papers. The ideas generated today will help as we prepare for the Summer Meeting in July and continue on to the Annual Meeting in January.
With that, what’s on your mind regarding programming, planning and system evaluation?

Call for Papers /

Hello committee members and friends. TRB has opened the website for “call for papers”. We need to submit a call(s) as soon as possible for the benefit of authors planning to submit.
As discussed at the annual meeting, we will try to use the blog as way to share ideas. Please go to the blog, log in, and write a post. It is really easy to do. All members should have a log in. You can contact me if you need your login.
At the annual meeting we discussed the importance of attracting papers and presentation from practitioners. Remember this when thinking of topics and possible submissions that you or your colleagues could make. We also discussed including the topics of Livability, Economic Development, and Innovative Finance.
There are a variety of ways to write the call. Check out TRB’s website to see some that have been written by other committees already:
http://pressamp.trb.org/CallForPapers/default.asp?event=654
The Air Quality committee provides a link to this document which I think might be a good way for us to approach the call:

Please share your ideas: What topics do you think are important? What other committees should we partner with? What themes should we highlight in the sessions we host? How can we be more specific with broad topics, such as “Livability”?
